PRBH LOGO

Empowering Communities to Preserve Rural Buddhist Heritage

A Fusion of Legacy and Vision:
The logo is a visual bridge between the past and the present, honoring ancient craftsmanship while embodying Academy for PRBH's mission to conserve and revitalize Buddhist heritage in India’s rural heartlands. The deer motif in the ancient coins from the Kuninda dynasty, symbolises the support for Buddha’s teachings during their rule. The deer is closely associated with the first sermon by the Buddha after attaining enlightenment, which took place in a Deer Park of Sarnath, Uttar Pradesh, India, initiating the Dhamma Cakka Pavattana (Dharma Wheels’s Rotation). This moment represents the beginning of the dissemination of the Buddha's teachings and the foundation of the ‘Sangha’ (community of dhamma followers). Deer signify harmony with nature and having compassion for all living beings. In the current times too; deer is associated with tranquility and compassion, the very qualities central to Buddha’s teachings.
Reimagining a Legacy
PRBH Logo, is a reimagination of the deer from the Kuninda dynasty coins (200 BC), a symbol of harmony and heritage. The deer on the Kushan coins is notable for its abstracted shape, characterized by simplified forms of the head, eyes, ears, and snout. This abstraction isn’t just stylistic; it reflects the material techniques and processes of coin-making during that era, where engraving tools and molten metals shaped the art.
A Meaningful Color Palette
The PRBH Logo embraces the harmonious palette of yellow and terracotta brown, colors deeply symbolic of the flora, terrain, and ethos of rural Buddhist heritage.

1. Yellow reflects the warmth of the sun, the ripening of crops, and the cycle of life—deeply revered in rural India as symbols of abundance, wisdom, and spiritual awakening. Traditionally, the hues of Buddhist monks' robes were derived from natural dyes, reinforcing a deep-rooted harmony with nature and the land.

2. Terracotta Brown is a symbol of the land, pottery, and the architectural tones of ancient Buddhist monasteries, which embodies the foundation of rural livelihoods and the strength of heritage rooted in the soil.

Through its symbolic deer, its palette, and its artistic connections to history, the PRBH logo celebrates the essence of conservation and revitalization, bridging ancient traditions with a mission to preserve Buddhist heritag’/e in rural heartlands.
